Hoist a dram of whiskey for Scottish National Day.
Our family (Matt & Carolyn) shared this blessing with us… This beautiful blessing kind of describes the life we hope to live daily…
May God bless you with a restless discomfort about easy answers, half-truths and superficial relationships, so that you may seek truth boldly and love deep within your heart.
May God bless you with holy anger at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people, so that you may tirelessly work for justice, freedom, and peace among all people.
May God bless you with the gift of tears to shed with those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation, or the loss of all that they cherish, so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and transform their pain into joy.
May God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you really CAN make a difference in this world, so that you are able, with God’s grace, to do what others claim cannot be done.
I try to do purging, cleansing, removing, etc… with different parts of my life everyday.
Tonight I spent 45 minutes removing about 100 people from my Facebook account.
Not trying to disparage anyone, but if Facebook is the strand that somehow holds some vestige of a relationship, than its time to, at the very least, reassess that relationship.
My hope is to focus on the remaining ones… Still about a 150 people, so I might revisit this again.
As with all the things we are ‘minimalizing’ in our lives, it relieves quite a bit stress (which is awesome).
I went on a jog for about half an hour around the hood. I’m slowly becoming a runner.
Exercising by yourself (well, and your android with pandora and edomondo) is really a good time to release stuff. I’m beat, but happy..
My life verse, if there is such a thing.
My wife and I just started down the path to minimalism.
step one: Discuss getting rid of TV.
step two: Get rid of TV.
step three: Cry inside.
We want to be able to live the life that we believe Jesus wants for us, and we realized there was a lot of stuff (literally and figuratively) holding us back from that. So, we decided to leave theory, and get our hands dirty.
The first bandage has been rip off, and while it hurt it feels right…
